This small community dates back to the 1920's when Scottish immigrant John Kennedy established Globe Laboratories, Inc. Globe Laboratories was responsible for helping create a vaccination to immunize cattle and protect them from backleg, a disease that often affected cattle under the age of two. It was later sold to his partner Kennedy, after successful operations over the last ten years. Kennedy then purchased 400 acres of land in an area bordered by East McLeroy Boulevard on the north and FM 156(now the FM 156 is named after the city). Kennedy then opened Globe Aircraft and it led more people to settle in the area. This community officially received its current name in 1957.
